Penncap residues: A question has been raised regarding residues of Penncap from legal uses (before Dec. 31, 1999). The tolerance will soon be revoked, creating a question on status of fruit in storage that had been treated with the legal material. After discussions with EPA, I have been told that until Dec. 31, 2000, we will be in a Presumptive Compliance Period, allowing all legally treated fruit to pass the the commercial system without undue upset to growers. For some period (to be determined) after Dec. 31, 2000, some documentation regarding the harvest or processing date of the fruit will be needed. It appears that our growers will be protected by this approach. Feel free to contact me of you have further questions on this issue.
